Do you have a fire wire card? What camera do you have, is it tape based? Please give some more details.
Fire wire is inbuilt with 400mbps and 800mbps ports on the motherboard .the software is FCP 4.5HD. The camera is sony HDR-FX1000E. yes it is tape based.
Thanks

Looks like you're all set. Have you tried it and run into problems?
I am not at all sure that FCP 4.5 will capture or provide for editing HDV, but I am by no means a FCP expert. Perhaps a run through the Apple & FCP forums or help sites would provide better information regarding that, but otherwise with FW connections, you should be golden for at least cuts-only (if not more) capture & editing) with standard definition, or even down-converting from HDV to SD???

Maybe try www.lafcpug.org (Los Angeles Final Cut Pro Users Group) forums where a LOT of useful information is provided regarding the program and hardware environment you are using.
google is your friend. FCP 4.5 does not handle HDV (though there may be some work arounds)
