Ok I have a weird one, wasnt sure where to post it...

I shoot content for an american company on my Sony Z1E HD camera... they want me to send them the original HD Mini DV's instead of capturing the video at this end...

They dont want to spend a fortune and buy a Z5E HD camera... they want to know what would be a good option for them to buy camera wise to process the video, capturing it from the camera onto their computers... without losing quality ???

They are looking at the Sony HDR-HC3e should this work for them ?

Also we shot everything in PAL, and they obviously use NTSC... should this make a difference ? Should they still capture/render in PAL or NTSC ? Will this effect the quality of the video ?

Sorry to sound like such a newb... but I am lol

You shot it in PAL? Did you know you were shooting for an american company prior to your shoot?
We used to shoot the content and then render it all for them, and just supply the finished files... it's for use on the internet so not sure what impact the whole PAL and NTSC makes... but now they want the original DV's so they can rip the content...
PAL vs NTSC will make a difference in what camera or deck they purchase in order to be able to play it properly for capture. Sounds like an odd request from them since you used to supplied rendered files, but heck it's their $$. they just need to make sure the cam they buy can play PAL tapes.
I think the best is capture the image on a dedicated hard disk drive and send them the hard disk ... the hard disk are relatively cheap. Then after they received the hard disk they just need to plug it. Pal or Ntsc is not a problem when the capture is all ready done, it's just a file easily to converted.
sony z1u will let them output pal or ntsc
