Hi, I was considering a camera, and was really leaning toward the Panasonic AG-HPX300. I see it has 1/3" imaging chips, rather than the 2/3" I'm used to (and spoiled by). I've seen other 1/3" cameras look a little soft - HD, SD, doesn't matter. Does the 300 have a soft look, or has Panasonic improved the look of 1/3" cameras?

I just purchased the HPX-300 and am very happy with it. I don't notice any soft look and my clients don't either, everyone that I have showed the footage to are very impressed with this camera. Your clients won't notice whether it is a 1/3 chip or 2/3 chip. It has so many options that other cameras in this price range don't offer. Such as shooting in AVC intra codec, DVCPRO HD and standard DVCPRO. The camera controls are easy to get to, it is a full size camcorder rather than the smaller types out their in this price range, thus giving you more camera control when doing hand held shots. I would highly recommend this camera in comparison to the other cameras out there in this price range.
My reluctance in buying this camera is not the body but the lens. Test footage I've seen looked decent, but I've read a few reviews that say this isn't one of the cameras best features. Looking at higher end lenses, and i might as well get the HPX500, cause I'm going to have to buy the $15k glass anyway. Have you found any good alternative lenses for this camera, even wide angle lenses?
