The new light kit I ordered from BH photo works great.  I used them to film 2 commercials yesterday and I was very impressed with the lights, especially for the price.  I purchased the Wescott Ulite 3 light video lighting kit.  There are a few design issues that could be improved, which is to be expected when you pay only $200 for the kit.  Overall though, the lighting kit is great.  Make sure you purchase the Westcott 4 socket fluorescent adapter so you can convert the single 500watt incandescent bulb to a 4 way fluorescent bulb.  The fluorescent bulbs do not get nearly as hot and last a lot longer.

Just ordered a basic lighting kit.  Can't wait to try it out.

Actually the "flash light in a cave" effect seems to happen with a light on the camera. The LED works much better. However, now they do have LED lights that can go on a camera which they didn't have a couple of years ago.

A question on the LED light. Why strap it to your head and not the camera? (hot shoe, side bracket etc.) Would not having it on you head give you the flashlight in a cave effect?

A few years ago I had a collapsible soft light that I used the heck out of. It had a light box with 2 1K lamps and a foldable wire frame that a silver coats cloth cover Velcrowed around. Best I can remember it was a Colortran. Anyway, I’m looking for another one. Anyone know of such an animal and where to get it.

Just wanted to share an unusual thing I do now... at wedding receptions I can't get them to turn up any lights because the DJ's want it dark for dancing mood and they always use them dang flashing lights... so here is what I do now: I puchased an LED head lamp. strap it on my head and in I go! Sure it's not the best lighting system but now I actually have footage at receptions that I can use!
