Hello

I'm testing a new marketing campaign locally for VST and I want to make a 3 to 4 pages ebook (PDF) called "How to prepare your story so everyone can remember it". I have a few ideas to add to this ebook, such as childhood experience, how was life in your day, travel experiences and among others. I will appreciate some suggestions as how people should tell their stories and how they should organize their toughs. I have a clear idea of what I will write in the ebook, but I want to do some additional research and it will be great to have all your suggestion in the ebook.

Thanks in advance

Hello Luis, I am in awe of your wonderful presentation video. Thanks for sharing that with me. I want to share and discuss it with my local partner, Mary Ann, and will be getting back to you ASAP. Luis, you put in some serious thought and have a true winner for the program promotion. I will say and share more about that shortly. Again, AWESOME!

About people telling their stories, one of the things I've learned in this process is that it might sometimes take awhile to break the ice, to get things started, and for that you often need some "prompters' or notes that help people get to thinking in a good direction regarding stories they have inside them. BUT, when their eyes light up and you hear that edge of excitement begin to sound off in their voices, you'll know they're on their way to telling some GREAT stories.

However, when that happens, it is better to abandon the questions list, the order of thought or the interview process, STOP TALKING, and let the natural flow of these memories that have now found their way from memories to vocal chords. At this point, IMHO, it is better to allow them to enjoy the continuity of a memory until they stop or halt or seem to get lost because often interrupting them just to try and nudge them back on topic, or refocus them will interrupt the spontaneity and you'll lose some really great stuff. It is better, again IMHO, to allow the spurt of reminiscence to fill MORE recording time, than to cut something short that might be powerfully compelling in the end.

Hola Luis

It is a great idea. Perhaps it would help us if you could post an outline of your ebook so that we have a sense of what you want to cover.

Heidi

Thank you for the reply. I finish the first draft of the ebook. Here is a picture (in Spanish)

I use the following outline:

  1. Everyone has a story to tell
  2. Organizing the story of your life
  3. Possible topics to talk about
  4. Techniques to share your story
  5. What is Video Storytellers?

Its 7 pages long including the cover and table of content. I wrote it more informal, using some Puerto Rico typical jargon.

I even mention a fictional soap opera story, just to show that there are stories everywhere we go.
Looks awesome Luis. Sent you an e-mail also regarding the overall focus and promotion plan you outlined to me for VST. When could I get a glimpse of the book content. Hope some of my earlier comments helped in some way. Look forward to taking your whole promotion and the VST program over the top in 2011.
Your comments did help. I wrote the book in Spanish so I will need to translate it later. I'm going to use this for marketing purposes and a social experiment I want to try out.
