- I am a Superrvisng Sound Editor / Sound Designer (I have just over 140 theatrical motion picture credits)
I have designed and built post-production facilities -- I have been responsible for a number of in post-producltion techniques, scheduling and budgeting innovations.
I wrote the book THE PRACTICAL ART OF MOTION PICTURE SOUND. Versions one and two had an audio CD included. Version three has an interaction DVD (with approx 8 hours of material) included. My publisher has asked me to write the fourth edition, so I am presently working on it. This edition will have TWO interactive DVDs included.
I also teach motion picture sound at the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking (since 2000).
I still contract sound editorial services and/or sound design projects from time to time.
- What equipment do you use?
- For Production Recording purposes:
I use both analog and digital recording equipment (Nagra IV-S for analog and various digital multi-channel digital recorders, such as Sound Devices, Fostex, Aaton and Zaxcom's Deva.
For Post-Production Sound Editing:
I use Pro-Tools as my main platform for sound editing and sound designing purposes. Obviously I use numerous "outboard" equipment as is appropriate for sound design/audio manipulation purposes. (Too many to list here.)
