Recently graduated from Futureworks, Manchester where I studied Audio Engineering & Sound Post Production for film, I am a freelance sound post production engineer working in the independent film scene covering all aspects of sound for film.
With several short films and animations under my belt, I am currently working on my second feature film as the supervising sound editor (www.bornofhope.com) I have a passion for all aspects of sound in film and can happily cover any aspect of it be it production sound, dialog editing, ADR recording/editing, Foley recording/editing, sound effects editing, sound effects recording, dubbing mixer in stereo or surround all the way to mastering and encoding for any format (Dobly,DTS,etc..) I will happily work as part of a team or will create my team and supervise the sound department if needed. I like to pride myself in serious, hard work, responsible/professional approach to work and attention to detail in following briefs, working in any position in a sound team or reaching deadlines and sticking to budgets.
Sound is an art I am passionate about and I hope I can continue working doing sound for film for a long time!
What equipment do you use?
I usually use Sound Devices mixers (442) or recorders (744), depending whether I'm recording single system straight to camera or not. As for mics I use varying boom mics or lavaliers (Sennheiser MKH 416) depending on the needs of the project.
Regarding sfx editing, ADR recording/editing and final mixing in surround, I work on a ProTools HD3 system running ProTools 8 and built around a Digidesign D-Control controller surface. The dubbing suite is fully calibrated and equipped for 5.1 mixing with a HD projector and a Meridian sound system.
