- Juan Jaramillo is a freelance automotive television commercials director. His work is characterized by his eye for exterior locations, urban as well as open roads and landscapes, usually combined with innovative graphic elements and visual effects. As a result his style is often described as clear-cut and ultra-modern.
During high-school his notebooks were full of car sketches and drawings. His first job was as an illustrator and photographer at an Auto Trader magazine.
Then he realized cars are best appreciated in motion, and became fascinated with filmmaking. He was employed on a film set for the first time in 1978 and started working as an assistant director on TV commercials after film school in 84.
By the mid nineties Juan had become an international high end producer satisfying numerous advertising agencies throughout Australasia, Europe, South and North America and was described as having the resourcefulness of a pyramid builder.
“As a producer I spent a lot of time determining agency briefs and putting together the right teams to accomplish them. So directing came naturally, specially working with products I have a passion for and ideas I communicate visually.”
In 2002 Juan made the commitment to stop producing in order to concentrate entirely on directing automotive work because of his life long passion for car design and love of painting with light on sheet metal and chrome.
Juan Jaramillo's 30 years of international filmmaking experience includes work in some of the most gruelling conditions imaginable. He brings inexhaustible talent, specialized auto-centric skills and a relentless pursuit of excellence to every project he undertakes.
