Happy Turkey day

So I went to get the "Ham" for the family and in my infinite knowledge i said the order number wrong. Instead of 26x4 i said 24x6.... so instead of a 10 lb. ham we got a $90 16 lb ham. That plus two turkeys and lots of side dishes... Tomorrow's going to be yummy and same for the rest of the WEEK. ne ways.. Happy ThanksGiving!

Site and Peaple are Great

I do this as a hobby and thought I was good. But now I see what good / great really is after watching videos here. I'm good at filming races but have a long way to go before I do real production work like seen here on this site. I hope folks don't mind that I'm here to read , watch and learn. My dream is to produce a racing program for TV. I cant believe how helpful this site has been so far on helping me fulfill my dream.

Thank you

Mino Flip: HD

I'm really surprised how nice the footage looks from the tiny Mino HD camera, but when the camera moves, the sensor distorts the image terribly. Time for a tripod or steady hand with this one.

I'll post footage later... but it'd be a great camera for someone considering submission to Footage Firm

New d'artiste book and new Stash

dang. where to spend the money I don't have?

The new d'artiste book was announced today, as was a sale for the Stash videos.

The fine artist in me wants the book.
The animator side wants the DVDs.

On top of it all, I need a new bag for my computer and camera.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a good computer bag that will hold a small consumer still camera too (separate compartments)?

Videoediting

So a while ago I came across something interesting,

If you do a lot of repetitive videos like me, then you might find yourself doing the same small motions over and over.

For example, in adobe premiere I find myself monotonously adding drop shadow, turning on position/scale/rotation transform points, and perhaps some other things too.

I made a much larger video than I usually do once, and now I use that as a template,

I store all my photos or footage in one folder, if… Continue

fish rays

I just posted a new project online at ninjacrayon that shows how to make some rays coming to the water.

I'll so you use the plug-in called ball action to make little bits of bubbles floating around in the water.

I have a bunch of other aftereffects projects up there that you can grab

New red camera

The new red camera formats announced on Thursday here in Los Angeles are amazing.

I don't know what we're going to do with all of that 4K. footage, much less what we're going to do with 23K footage!!

the bodies look cool -- can't wait to see them in production.

Recommended reading

I just got finished reading the article called "camera placement for multicam weddings" in the October edition of event DV magazine, by Marshall Levy.

If you haven't seen it I suggest you check it out. If you don't subscribe to the magazine and you can get it by going to their website: www.eventdv.net

Inbox vs. public thread

I'm going to start making a habit. If I have more than 2 emails about a specific question (or on the third), I'll create a thread for the subject.

Sometimes it's better to have the discussion public so that everyone sees the answer (or return comment).

You might want to do the same: based on your inbox

Member Icons

I was waiting on a video to render and decided to really look over some of the members profiles in the meantime. One thing that astonished me was some of the choices of icons used for profiles. I saw some that used their personal photo which I would re-think some of them! Sorta gives a whole new meaning to "mug shots". Maybe at least go into Adobe Photoshop and do a little retouching? (However, Joel Holland... kudos to you, you nice looking hunk) But I also noticed that lots of them only had… Continue
